Site news and updates
If we've been mucking about with the site or have any problems, we'll let you know about it here.
29th January 2012 - 300th message and 3,000 subscribers
Things seem to come in threes - we've just sent out our 300th email newsletter and now have three thousand subscribers to the weekly service. We've also got a shade under 300 Twitter followers. Only Facebook and Google+ are out of sync with 518 and a paltry 15 respectively. Not signed up? Click on one of the links and keep up with the jobs as they're posted.
12th August 2011 - Job listing sort order changed
We've changed the sort order on the Vacancies page from "Latest closing date first" to sorted by "by job category, ascending". This puts it in the same order as the weeking email and should allow you to quickly flick down to the jobs in your interest areas. The drop-down boxes are still available for sorting should this not be your preferred order.
28th June 2011 - Resolved: Job board temporarily disabled
Updated 29th June: The job detail is available again, but the mailto feature is disabled until I can beef up the security.
28th June: Access to the job details has been temporarily disabled by our web host because an Indonesian hacker has exploited the 'email to a friend' form to send spam. I've disabled the email option and am now waiting on the host to restore access.
2nd August 2011 - Site upgrade completed
We've just upgraded the site to the latest verion of Joomla! and everything appears to work OK. A couple of styling issues have reappeared but we should have these sorted soon. 19th June 2011 - Smaller pages loading faster?
Got an email from our web host this morning saying we'd used most of our bandwidth allocation for the month. A quick check showed that page size was the issue - about 1,300kb for the front page. After resizing some images, and enabling compression for javascript and css, I've managed to whittle it down to a much more reasonable 150kb. This should also make pages much faster to load - particularly for those on slow connections. A possible side effect of the compression is that some scripts may not work, so if you find something that doesn't work let me know at This email address is being protected from spambots.
