Programme Manager, Biodiversity Assets - Department of Conservation
The Wakatipu Area is seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified person to join our Area management team. You will manage a diverse workload involving:
- threatened species recovery (mohua, long tail bat, falcon)
- Project Gold (Kowhai Woodland Restoration)
- Nature Heritage Management System implementation
- advice on permits under the CPLA
- high country station matters relating to tenure review input and implementation
- RMA consent advice and advocacy relating to biodiversity values
- advice to the Area Manager of significant development proposals affecting conservation values in the Area.
This position would suit an energetic and enthusiastic person with a strong background in assets based conservation and biodiversity management. You will have experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with local communities, commercial tourism operators, high country station landowners, iwi and stakeholders. The successful applicant will be committed to achieving high standards, following best practice and meeting deadlines.
You will have:
- a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
- effective leadership and staff management skills
- excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
- experience in strategic planning, business planning, prioritising and budget management
- sound experience in performance reporting, monitoring and post operational reporting
- an aptitude for risk assessment, developing solutions and identifying opportunities.
