Conservation/Community Support Manager – Department of Conservation

Auckland Conservancy

The Auckland Conservancy is looking to recruit a dynamic leader to lead and manage the Conservancy team into a new operating model that will see us greatly increase our focus on working with communities, iwi, agencies and business.  The position is for a fixed term, until November 2013, to cover a secondment.  

This is an exciting opportunity to lead work to grow community conservation efforts in Auckland and to ensure conservation delivery work is well planned and prioritised.  Ideally you will have

  • A proven track record in developing strategies and approaches to increase community engagement and in managing high level community-based relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills, including issues management experience
  • Experience leading and managing teams and the ability to influence, promote and implement organisational change.
  • Experience working collaboratively with senior managers to determine resource needs and priorities and in negotiating support/service provision from a range of internal business groups.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic approaches that facilitate the integration of organisational priorities to enable operational delivery.
  • Expertise in the areas of community engagement, education, communications, engagement and awareness activities is desirable.
