 The key purpose is to effectively implement the Regional Pest Management Strategy, operational plans and legislative requirements to benefit regional biodiversity and primary production and to minimise the adverse environmental impacts of pests.

Key responsibilities of this role are to:

• Develop, implement and report on biosecurity programmes
• Manage a team of six Biosecurity Advisors and Officers
• Co-ordinate the development and implementation of projects to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Biosecurity team's activities.

The ideal person for this role will have a Masters degree in a related field (e.g. Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany or Zoology) and relevant specialist or post-graduate qualifications in pest management, science, or environmental management, communications, and/or project management, plus six years experience in creating and managing pest management programmes in New Zealand.
